From a diving accident at the age of nineteen, I sustained a spinal cord injury resulting in incomplete quadriplegia. Nineteen years later, I was diagnosed with an aggressive stage four bladder cancer which I miraculously survived and live to tell my story years later. I always wanted to scuba dive and enrolled in the course in a college PE class. I never completed my ocean dive since my disability appeared to cause so many obstacles. In 2009, when the opportunity to participate in a pool session with the Diveheart instructors class, I realized that I could dive with the help of the competent buddy's and instructors trained by Jim Elliott. The training that he provided was thorough and comprehensive and gave me confidence to complete my training. Scuba Diving has opened a whole new world to me. It affords me many physical, mental and emotional therapeutic benefits. I am able to swim and move in a gravity eliminated environment, enjoy the beauty of the underwater life, meet new people, go new places, and partake of life to the fullest in spite of my paralysis. It revives my soul and decreases my pain level. It is my burning desire to be able to Dive Cozumel with Diveheart. I cannot think of a better way to rejuvenate my body and keep my spirits up. Unfortunately, I am unable to afford diving without financial assistance through the Diveheart adopt a diver program. Please donate to Diveheart to make my diving dreams possible.
Any donation will go a long way to helping me meet my goal for DIVEHEART.
